The 2026 Special Olympics USA Games are getting a star-powered kickoff in Minneapolis.

Award-winning artists Demi Lovato and Jon Batiste will perform during the Opening Ceremony on June 20 at Huntington Bank Stadium, officially launching a weeklong celebration of competition, inclusion and athletic achievement across Minnesota’s Twin Cities.

The two-and-a-half-hour ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. and will feature separate performances from Lovato and Batiste, along with the Parade of Athletes, remarks from Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver and the lighting of the cauldron to open the Games.

Lovato, whose career has long been tied to messages of self-expression and resilience, is expected to deliver an electrifying set of fan-favorite hits.

“I’ve always believed that being unapologetically who you are is the most powerful thing you can do,” Lovato said. “I’m so honored to be part of a night that celebrates these athletes who embody their strength and individuality every day.”

Batiste, known for his “Stay Human” philosophy and high-energy live performances, will bring a unifying moment to the stadium.

“I am incredibly honored to curate and perform for the Special Olympics USA Games Opening Ceremony,” Batiste said. “Let’s celebrate the power of inclusion and the indomitable spirit of the incredible athletes competing this year.”

The 2026 Special Olympics USA Games will run June 20–26, bringing nearly 3,000 athletes from all 50 states to Minnesota. Competitions will be staged at the University of Minnesota and the National Sports Center in Blaine, with more than 100,000 fans expected throughout the week.

Beyond the competition, fans will be able to take part in Fan Zones, community events and celebrations designed to spotlight the athletes and the larger mission of the Special Olympics movement.

The Games will wrap on June 26 with a free Closing Ceremony at Huntington Bank Stadium, featuring entertainment and the symbolic passing of the torch to the next host city.

Tickets for the Opening Ceremony are on sale now, with more information on ceremonies, competition schedules, Fan Zones and volunteer opportunities available through the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games website.
